For new registrants, please send a photocopy of the player’s Alberta Health Care, Birth Certificate and a copy of your Utility Bill (proof of residency in SW Edmonton). About the Child Fitness Tax Credit (Revenue Canada)
You can claim, to a maximum of $500 per child, the fees paid in one calendar year that relate to the cost of registering your child in a prescribed program of physical activity. A prescribed program must be ongoing for a minimum of 8 weeks duration, must be supervised, must be suitable for children and must require significant physical activity. Minor hockey does meet the requirements of the noted “prescribed program”. The final requirement for eligibility to claim this credit is that the child must have been under 16 years of age at the beginning of the year, i.e., year of birth is 1993 or later.
